{"id":2322,"date":"2021-01-13T09:58:48","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T09:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/?p=2322"},"modified":"2026-01-29T16:02:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T15:02:17","slug":"orc-plants-for-biogas-engines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/en\/orc-plants-for-biogas-engines\/","title":{"rendered":"ORC plants for biogas engines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Biogas<\/strong> is one of the most used <strong>alternative sources<\/strong> for the production of renewable energy and ORC technology can make it even more efficient.<\/p>\n<p>The biogas supply chain uses a low <strong>environmental system<\/strong> and is powered by <strong>raw materials of local origin<\/strong>. It is characterized by the fact that it exploits the fermentation of <strong>animal or vegetable waste substances<\/strong>. This method is particularly used in large farms, where these residues are used to <strong>produce energy<\/strong> through a <strong>cogeneration unit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To <strong>increase the recovery of thermal energy<\/strong> and increase the <strong>entire power of the plant<\/strong>, it is possible to install an <strong>organic Rankine cycle<\/strong>. Their introduction downstream of the motors, in addition to enhancing the overall electrical efficiency, introduces <strong>advantages<\/strong> in terms of <strong>reliability<\/strong>, <strong>minimum<\/strong> <strong>management<\/strong> <strong>costs<\/strong> and completely automatic operation, without personnel intervention.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2325 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/biogasplant-orctechnology.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1086\" height=\"814\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/biogasplant-orctechnology.jpg 3333w, https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/biogasplant-orctechnology-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/biogasplant-orctechnology-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/zuccatoenergia.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/biogasplant-orctechnology-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1086px) 100vw, 1086px\" \/><em>Plant example: ZE-50-ULH module (gensets powered by biogas in Veneto)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the <strong>studies<\/strong> we carried out to insert one of our modules concerns a <strong>biogas plant in Argentina<\/strong>. Specifically, it consists of 5 JGS 420s from Jenbacher, each with 1.5 MW of electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>total electricity production required<\/strong> by the plant is <strong>6.8 MW of electricity<\/strong>. Our proposal is to recover the thermal power available to the exhaust fumes of the cogenerators and maximize this waste by feeding our <strong>ZE-400-LT module<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Each cogenerator supplies 567 thermal kW from its own exhaust fumes and thus multiplying by the 5 cogenerators at our disposal we obtain <strong>2.835 thermal kW increasing the efficiency of the entire plant by 6,2%. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This solution therefore makes it possible to safeguard <strong>environmental sustainability<\/strong>, recovering the waste otherwise emitted into the atmosphere and at the same time increasing the electrical efficiency of the entire plant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Biogas is one of the most used alternative sources for the production of renewable energy and ORC technology can make it even more efficient.
